History
Merchants Leasing has been leasing fleet vehicles for over 40 years, but began as part of the Merchants Motors automotive dealership, founded by Irving Singer in 1962.
Merchants Motors did not just sell used cars, but offered automotive services and rentals, and then later began leasing fleet vehicles. In 1967, the first fleet vehicles were leased from the Merchants Motors automobile dealership at its location in Manchester, New Hampshire. The business continued to flourish over the years, growing to multiple locations and encompassing additional automotive services, due to Mr. Singer’s full-service approach to car dealership sales and fleet leasing.
Today, the Merchants Auto Group, which encompasses the automobile dealership once known as Merchants Motors, as well as Merchants Leasing and other automotive businesses, is run by Irving Singer's sons Stephen, Robert, Alan, Jeffrey, Gary, and son-in-law Michael Sydney. The company finds that the same family philosophy still serves its clients well.
Merchants Leasing continues to provide a full service approach to the many clients that rely on them for fleet solutions. The company has grown to be a nationwide fleet management partner for commercial leasing clients such as TJX Corporation, Saks Fifth Avenue, Millipore and the New York Times providing tailored vehicle leasing and fleet management solutions. Merchants Leasing also provides GSA fleet management programs and government vehicle leasing.
